Payment Reform and Innovation in Community Oncology

The Community Oncology Alliance (COA) Payer Exchange & Innovation Summit is an interactive two-day event highlighting innovative payment and care delivery models used by independent community oncology practices to deliver high-quality, advanced cancer care close to where patients live and work. The Summit brings together practice leaders, payers, providers, benefit consultants, employers, employer health groups, and industry stakeholders to explore strategies that improve care quality while lowering costs.

Independent community oncology practices are leaders in developing care delivery and payment models that ensure quality care while reducing costs. The COA Payer Exchange & Innovation Summit provides a forum to share successful models and foster dialogue.

The Summit will be structured around opportunities and challenges in community oncology payment reform. Formats include panels, an innovation showcase, and interactive discussions focused on actionable strategies for collaboration between those involved in these important issues.

The Community Oncology Alliance (COA) represents independent community oncology practices that treat more than half of all patients with cancer in the United States. Employers of all shapes and sizes are working in new and unique ways with community oncology practices to improve the quality, experience, and cost of cancer care. At the Payer Exchange & Innovation Summit, attendees learn about these initiatives and how they can get involved.

COA is a national nonprofit organization that advocates for independent community oncology practices and the patients they serve. We are the only organization dedicated solely to community oncology.

Our mission is to strengthen independent community oncology through advocacy and practice support. We work with policymakers at the federal and state levels to advance legislation that helps practices succeed, operate sustainably, and deliver the best care to patients. In addition, we offer hands-on support to practice professionals by providing the resources they need to succeed in an evolving oncology environment.

Cancer treatment can be intense and span many years, requiring regular physician visits for treatment and checkups. Keeping patients close to home, their families, and support networks helps to lessen the burden of this devastating disease. With the majority of Americans receiving treatment in the community setting, it is the backbone of the nation’s cancer care system. We must protect and strengthen independent community oncology.
